Children and Age
Draft for legal review · updated 23 September 2026 · not yet effective
24 Frames Pty Ltd intends to serve people of all ages worldwide, starting operationally in Botswana. Children under 13 are intended to have separate accounts controlled by a parent or guardian. That account type and its safety controls are not yet available. This draft must not be used to represent the present sign-up flow as child-ready.
Current service and release condition
The current onboarding asks for an age range, including “under 18”; it does not distinguish a child under 13 from an older teenager. It does not verify a parent or guardian, collect their consent, or offer an adult-managed child profile. A new phone or email account can be created before that age information is collected. We cannot currently promise that an under-13 account is blocked, approved by a guardian, or given a child-safe experience.
Before we launch to children, we must introduce a neutral age screen before account activation and data collection beyond what is strictly necessary to route sign-up. Under-13 accounts must remain inactive until a guardian is verified and has given informed consent. The no-vendor route selected for development is a signed consent form reviewed by staff, with documented identity checks, consent records, withdrawal, and a way for guardians to inspect or delete a child's information. The method and each launch country still require legal review. No fee-based verification provider is currently planned.
What a child account must provide before launch
A child account will need a restricted catalogue, no adult-only titles, no advertising, limited data collection and recommendations, no public creator or live-production access by default, and guardian controls over social and sharing functions. Adults must be able to manage those functions, and an adult action must be required before a child can share personal information. Safety prompts and reporting must be available. These are requirements for a future release, not claims about the present app.
For everyone under 18, adult-only content and ads must be withheld. The current backend has age-range-based filters for some catalogue and ad paths, but the age screen and all entry points require end-to-end verification before we can claim the safeguard is complete. A creator's “made for kids” declaration is a content label, not proof that a title is safe for children.
Parents and guardians
If you believe a child has an account now, or find content that puts a child at risk, contact info@24frames.co or call +267 77 064 028. Tell us the account or content involved without sending a child's password, sign-in code, or unnecessary identity documents. We will verify who may act for the child before disclosing information or acting on the account. An in-app deletion request is a request, not completed erasure; see Delete Your Account. If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first.
Our Privacy Policy explains the data the current app collects. Community Guidelines and Content Policy prohibit exploitation of children.
